Participation in the ideas competition
The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) is launching the sixth funding call for the IKI Medium Grants (IMG).
The IKI supports projects that contribute to the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the Convention on Biological Diversity in developing countries and emerging economies. Civil society organisations, academic institutions and non-profit companies in particular are invited to participate in the IKI Medium Grants.

Status of the process
The German government is providing up to eight million euros for projects to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. A maximum of 12 projects will be funded under the Medium Grants of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
The IKI Medium Grants Ideas competition (Call) will start on 17 November 2025 and will close on 20 January 2026, 11:59 a.m. (CET).
The IKI Office of ZUG is commissioned with the implementation of the IKI Medium Grants funding instrument, operating on behalf of the BMUKN.
Thematic priorities
The following thematic priorities are available for selection:
- Thematic priority I: Climate action through Circular Economy: local approaches
- Thematic priority II: 'Towards locally-led ecosystem-based adaptation', with the aim of strengthening local capacities for action to adapt to climate change.
